The Eagle and the Crow
When America’s founders chose the Bald Eagle as our national symbol, they chose a creature that represented strength, courage, independence, and freedom.
There’s something else about the eagle that has always resonated with me: it rises above the noise.
That spirit reflects something deeply American.
Faith. Hard work. Courage. Independence. The relentless pursuit of freedom and a better life.
But somewhere along the way, too many people have traded that mindset for victimhood, resentment, and blame.
That makes it even more important for those of us who still believe in this country—and in the dignity of hard work—to keep building.
To keep dreaming.
To keep doing.
To be the eagles.
Eagles and Crows
There’s an old motivational story about an eagle and a crow.
The crow is one of the few birds brazen enough to harass an eagle. It will chase it, peck at it, and do everything it can to become a distraction.
The eagle is far more powerful. It could turn and fight.
But it doesn’t.
Instead of wasting its time and energy battling the crow, the eagle spreads its wings and climbs.
Higher and higher.
Eventually, the crow can no longer keep up.
The eagle never had to defeat the crow.
It simply rose above it.
The lesson is simple:
Don’t fight crows.
There will always be people who criticize you, distract you, question you, or try to steal your peace.
Let them caw.
Stay focused.
Keep building.
Keep climbing.
Because the answer to small thinking isn’t always confrontation. Sometimes the answer is altitude.
America was built by people willing to aim higher.
Builders.
Dreamers.
Doers.
People who believed tomorrow could be better than today—and then went to work making it happen.
That same choice is still ours.
We can spend our lives fighting every crow that comes along, or we can put our energy toward becoming something greater.
So let the crows caw.
Keep your faith.
Keep your courage.
Keep your conviction.
And keep climbing.
Because freedom has always belonged to those willing to rise.
