You hear plenty about what’s wrong with America.
Today, I want to share something that’s right.
An 18-year-old named Jordan Hope was driving through Maricopa, Arizona, when he noticed an elderly man whose shoes were barely hanging onto his feet.
Jordan pulled over.
Then he took the shoes off his own feet and gave them to the man.
He had no idea someone was filming.
That alone would’ve been enough to make me share the story.
But what happened next is the part that really stayed with me.
Jordan drove away.
And then something told him to turn around.
So he did.
He found the man again, learned his name was Roy, and discovered that Roy’s wife had passed away just two weeks earlier.
Jordan bought him lunch. Helped him get home. Sat with him and listened.
And he didn’t disappear once the good deed was over.
He kept calling.
I keep coming back to that decision to turn around.
Giving someone the shoes off your feet is generous.
But going back? Sitting down? Listening to someone’s story? Making room for that person in your life?
That takes something more.
Jordan credited his parents, his youth pastor, and his faith. He said he felt God telling him to stop.
And he listened.
That part hit me.
Because most of us are busy.
We have somewhere to be. Work to finish. Bills to pay. Problems of our own. Phones buzzing. Schedules packed.
I know how easy it is to get wrapped up in my own life and drive right past someone else’s.
This 18-year-old reminded me to pay attention.
You don’t need a huge platform.
You don’t need a lot of money.
You don’t need to start a foundation or change the whole world.
Sometimes making a difference is much smaller than that.
Stop.
Ask the question.
Listen to the answer.
Stay a little longer.
And every once in a while, when something in your heart tells you to turn around…
…turn around.
Stay strong,
